Yorkshire Tea is made by Taylors of Harrogate, a third generation Yorkshire family business born in 1886.
The first pot of Yorkshire Tea was brewed up by us in the 1970s - but our story starts way back in 1886, when a man named Charles Taylor and his two sons set up a tea and coffee company. By buying the best, and carefully blending to suit the local water, C. E. Taylors & Sons became known for quality – winning a gold medal at the London Grocery Exhibition in 1896.
Charles Taylor set up tea and coffee kiosks in towns around Yorkshire, and a flagship store at 1 Parliament Street, Harrogate. Known across the region as a destination for tea lovers, today it’s the home of our sister company, Bettys – while we keep the Taylors tradition alive just across town, at Pagoda House.
Yorkshire Tea is the most famous tea that we make, but look around on the tea shelves and you’ll find a whole host of teas and infusions created by the same people who make your favourite brew, from speciality black teas to green teas, and fruit and herbal infusions. And, true to Charles Taylor’s legacy, we still make really good coffee too.
Even though we’re a little bigger today than we were in 1886, our independent values haven't changed. We’ve never compromised on our love of fairness, flavour and quality, and our business is still family-owned. And we're still completely, utterly devoted to the art of tea.

There’s nothing more British than tea and the Royal Family. Look on any Taylors of Harrogate tea or coffee pack and you’ll see the Royal Coat of Arms. It’s something we’re rather proud of. The Prince of Wales granted us the Royal Warrant of Appointment for supplying Clarence House – his London residence – for over five years. It’s all very flattering, but it’s not only a famous stamp of quality and excellence, it’s also only given to companies that are committed to looking after the environment and developing sustainability... which we absolutely are.
Yorkshire should be proud. Not only are they the home of Emmerdale farm, they're also the home and inspiration of the delicious Yorkshire Tea. Available to buy from UK Business Supplies.
