Our Everyday Teas set the benchmark for our range. They make a full-bodied and refreshing cup of tea that you can drink anytime of the day.
IT'S BEEN 25 YEARS...
Clipper has always been a different kind of tea company... It was started in 1984 by Mike and Lorraine Brehme with just two chests of Assam tea from a single tea estate. Teas of such quality weren’t widely available at that time and proved to be a huge success.
The company hit its stride when it became involved with the Fairtrade Foundation. Clipper eventually launched the very first Fairtrade tea in 1994, but this was an ethical business from the start. “It was always about how you want to make a living,” explains Mike. “I was in tea already, and I realised there was child labour involved and I thought, ‘That’s no way to make a living.’”
Clipper has always been innovative, too. Over the years we have introduced organic tea, coffee, white tea, Rooibos and the Japanese-style sencha. But everything we do has to be in line with the company’s principles, laid down by the founders as: “Always a pure, natural product – there isn’t a single artificial ingredient in any of the products.”
And the other principle, of course, is taste. We are in no doubt that our Fairtrade Everyday Tea is the best-tasting conventional tea you can buy – not just the best Fairtrade tea. It’s the same in whatever we do, Fairtrade or organic, tea, coffee or chocolate. That’s why we say it’s Natural, Fair and Delicious.
FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT...
This year Fairtrade Fortnight ran from 22nd February to 7th March, and the theme was the Big Swap. We've added the Fairtrade mark to our entire range of Green teas to help you make the swap.
On 22nd February 2009, we went to the launch of the Fairtrade Fortnight on London's Southbank.
